How many points can a CDL driver have?
CDL drivers are not only held to state laws but also the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) which assigns CSA points for infractions. Commercial drivers do not accrue individual CSA scores, but receive points that affect their employer's CSA score. Depending on the number of points and severity of the violation, licenses can be suspended for up to a year or even a lifetime. Scores of 50 or higher should be taken seriously.
